According to Wellesley College neuroscientist Bevil Conway, color is an extraordinarily powerful element in the way that we perceive the world, a fact that very few organizations use in branding or office space design decisions.

It only takes the average person 90 seconds to develop a subconscious impression of a product, with most of those individuals using color as the primary factor for their opinion. That’s according to a study from web marketer WebPageFX, which revealed that 85% of people mention color as their main deciding factor in product selection.
Before we get into the effect of certain colors, just consider how powerful color is generally:
• The average viewer is 42% likelier to read a full-color advertisement than one that is in black-and-white. That information can help businesses get more customers.
• Various aspects of thought function at a higher level if color is incorporated. Our general capacity for understanding rises 73%, ability to learn accelerates 55-68%, and reading comprehension improves 40%. Applying that knowledge can improve training manuals and commercial office design.
The impact of specific office space colorsGreen – According to person-centered design expert Sally Augustin, PhD, green opens up the mind, allowing better creativity and innovation.
Red – Red tends to make us perform tasks more rapidly but also more aggressively. We become less analytical and more passionate, which is why red apparel is an effective mating tactic and why sports teams perform worse when competing against red-clad opponents.
Blue – This color is the most popular globally, so it will increase happiness.
Yellow – Although yellow has a particularly strong appeal for certain individuals, it is the least popular color overall.
Pink – Pink can be calming, which can be great for a commercial office room where stressful meetings (such as mediation) are conducted but terrible in other scenarios.
“There’s a reason some sports teams paint the opposing team’s locker room pink – it’s known for draining people of their energy,” explained psychotherapist Amy Morin.
